Klaus Stolle, founder and president of Stollco Industries, was born in 1937 in what later became East Germany. He studied machining for three years, then escaped to West Germany in 1955; two years after that he emigrated to Canada.
With no friends or relatives, and unable to speak the language, Klaus worked as an underground mechanic for 18 months at
"Bralorne Gold Mine" in Alberta, then moved to Vancouver, where he was employed by "Stuart Die Castings"
as a toolmaker for four years. His next venture was with "Advance Industries" again as a toolmaker, then foreman after only two years, in 1965.
Two years after that, Stollco was born.
Established in 1967 out of his 24 x 30 foot garage, Stollco Industries focussed mainly on the fabrication of tools and dies.
Today the company boasts over 40,000 square feet, 25 plus employees, and the ability to manufacture hundreds of products.
Klaus is now semi-retired, but still actively involved in the day-to-day operations alongside his three sons (all toolmakers): Tom, Floyd, and Steve.
